1980's Silver Pendant - LARGE STANDARD1980's Silver Pendant - LARGE STANDARD

Golly Checklist No. P6

DESCRIPTION: Offered for sale is a rare Silver Standard Pendant. This is the large sized version. Issued for only a short time during the late 1970's/early 1980's. Considered by many collectors to be some of the most beautiful of the Golly items issued by Robertsons, the way the silver detailing has been carefully crafted to show through the transparent enamel is clearly the work of a master craftsman. Even down to the cuff details on the white shirt. This item is 39mm tall.

CONDITION: Offered for sale in excellent condition. Very clean both front and back. The only minor points to note are a tiny overrun of blue enamel onto the area under golly's left arm, and two light scratches to face (both less than 1mm). Hardly noticeable to the naked eye but visible under the large magnification of the high quality images in the Golly Auction. The metal is bright and clean. A first class example of this rare item.

See photos for full details. Multiple high quality images shows the badge from different angles.

Miller was known for his attention to detail and finished his badges with a light varnish to prevent them from oxidation and keep them clean and bright. This Prewar Sussex design is part of a quartet which are known to exist in larger quantities than the remaining counties. In addition to the 17 county cricketers, a further three cricketer badges in this series were manufactured, taking the total to 20. Full details are given in the Golly Guide.
