Prewar TENNIS PLAYERPrewar TENNIS PLAYER

Golly Checklist No. 12

DESCRIPTION: This attractive prewar tennis player design was manufactured by the high quality badge maker H.W.Miller of Birmingham and issued by Robertsons in 1937. This particular example shows the earlier Miller Type 1Bi backstamp ('REGd APPd') which was used by Miller on the initial batch (on later issues this was changed to 'REGd' once the registration application was successful).

CONDITION: Presented for sale in wonderful condition. No stress marks or chips. Tiny scratch to nose area (barely visible to naked eye). Very small area of enamel missing on Golly's left hand, again barely visible as the hand is only 2mm wide but shows up on the high resolution images. The metal is clean and bright on both sides with a very light patina. Complete with original straight pin. See photos for full details.
