It's hard to understate the rarity of this badge and its desirability amongst collectors. The following paragraph from the Golly Checklist page 23 says it all really (reproduced under copyright):
"... The rarest of the county cricket badges is undoubtedly the Gloucester cricketer [rarity 6]. Gloucestershire, supposedly, did not want to be included in the scheme; a few unenamelled badges for this county exist and, allegedly, only a few samples were ever enamelled..."

This particular example comes from one of the world's leading collectors during the 1980's and 90's - Ian Craig - a well known figure in the Golly collecting world at the time he was also responsible for designing and producing the 1980's collectors fruits.
Gloucester is one of the set of 17 county cricketers representing all first class county cricket teams. These beautiful designs were manufactured by the high quality badge maker H.W.Miller of Birmingham and issued by Robertsons in 1938. Certified as genuine by the Miller backstamp to reverse.

CONDITION: This badge has multiple stress lines clearly visible in the legs, one fleabite chip to the head and light surface scratches to the head (less than 2mm). Other than the fleabite chip to the head, all enamel is original, present and correct. The metal shows a patina consistent with its age and comes complete with original straight pin.
