DESCRIPTION: Prewar Coronation Golly offered in exceptional condition. This iconic design was prepared for the coronation of King George VI, which took place on 12th May 1937. Manufactured by H.W.Miller of Birmingham and issued by Robertsons in the run up to this event. Certified as genuine by the Miller type IA ii backstamp to reverse. The saluting Golly stands on a black base bearing 'Golden Shred’ in small letters. Rather than using white enamel in the union jack on Golly's chest, the finished brass badge was coated with silver.

BACKSTAMP: Variation of Miller Type IB iii with COPYRIGHT marking. Defined backstamp with all characters visible and legible.

CONDITION: Presented for sale in exceptional condition. This design appears to have almost all original varnish in place, and some what unusually for the Coronation Golly, the Silver coating to the waistcoat is intact. No stress marks chips or dmage whatsoever. Close examination under magnification shows no obvious flaws. A really rare opportunity to add this special badge to your collection. The metal has a patina consistent with age. Complete with original straight pin. For further information on grading please click here.

See photos for full details. Multiple high quality images shows the badge from different angles.
