DESCRIPTION: A White Waistcoat Bagpiper badge by Miller. Of the three different coloured bagpipe designs made by Miller this is the rarest, the elusive design with RED BAG. With light blue jacket. Blue hands and red feet.
BACKSTAMP: Miller Type I backstamp.
CONDITION: Presented in immaculate condition. No evidence of any stress marks, chips or scratches. Close to perfect. The metal is bright and clean on both sides and comes complete with the original straight pin. A beautiful example of a rare design. Please see images for details.
Note for the specialist: a distinct shade variation has been identified on this design > the blue jacket comes in two distinct shades, although more subtle than the usual 'light' and 'dark' blue shades commonly found on the jacket of other designs of the white waistcoat era it has been verified by the discovery of multiple examples of both shades. This example being the lighter of the two. This information has not made its way into the Golly Checklist yet. The previous Red Bagpiper which sold for £510 in Aug-2023 had the darker blue shade jacket, prior to this, the example which sold in Mar-2022 for £670 was the lighter blue shade.
