DESCRIPTION: The seventeenth SLC was held on 11
th August 2019 at Bosworth Hall, Market Bosworth. The Battle of Bosworth was the last significant battle of the Wars of the Roses, the civil war between the Houses of Lancaster (the red rose) and York (the white rose). This Tin Button badge was produced as a momento to mark the event.
Only 20 produced.
The war of the roses was fought on 22 August 1485, the battle was won by the Lancastrians. The victor Henry Tudor became the first English monarch of the Tudor dynasty. He subsequently married a Yorkist princess, and their heraldic red and white roses were combined to form the Tudor rose. The three roses are displayed on the right hand side of the Golly. The badges with the red rose on the hat depicts Henry Tudor (later Henry VII), those with the white rose depict Richard III. There are more white rose badges (30) than red (20) to signify the difference in the size of the two armies.

The Sunday Lunch Club is the name given to the official meeting of members of The Robertson’s Badge Club. This is an online club which started out as a Yahoo! Group: ‘GollyBC’ and has since moved over to Facebook. The first SLC took place at the end of 2001 to encourage Golly badge collectors to meet and swap badges or just chat in a relaxed setting. Official badges were produced for members each year and regular meetings were held up and down the country.
The badges produced by the group were not officially endorsed by Robertsons as the Golly had ceased to be used by Robertsons at this time. However, the full list of designs issued by the group are included in section W of the Golly Guide. The 'Robertons Badge Club' facebook group remains the only Robertsons Badge collecting group devoted exclusively to Robertsons Golly collecting and endorsed by the Golly Checklist team.
