DESCRIPTION: The three balloon themed badges were produced for the tenth SLC which took place on 18-Jul-2004 at Kenilworth Castle. The 10
th SLC presented a unique opportunity to see the historic Golly III balloon inflated. This took place in the field adjacent to Kenilworth Castle..
These three badges are in a red velour presentation box and each has a number on reverse, these being numbers 21 (SLC10a), 5 (SLC10b) and 26 (SLC10c). They were issued in a limited number, with 50 of SLC10a and c and only 15 of the unenamelled balloon waiter SLC10b
The Sunday Lunch Club is the name given to the official meeting of members of The Robertson’s Badge Club. This is an online club which started out as a Yahoo! Group: ‘GollyBC’ and has since moved over to Facebook. The first SLC took place at the end of 2001 to encourage Golly badge collectors to meet and swap badges or just chat in a relaxed setting. Official badges were produced for members each year and regular meetings were held up and down the country.
The badges produced by the group were not officially endorsed by Robertsons as the Golly had ceased to be used by Robertsons at this time. However, the full list of designs issued by the group are included in
section W of the Golly Guide. The 'Robertons Badge Club' facebook group remains the only Robertsons Badge collecting group devoted exclusively to Robertsons Golly collecting and endorsed by the Golly Checklist team.
