DESCRIPTION:
Prewar Jolly Golly Golfer offered in superb condition. This iconic design is a variant of the first enamel Golly badge manufactured by H.W.Miller of Birmingham. Issued by Robertsons from 1928. Certified as genuine by the Miller type IA ii backstamp to reverse.

This is the early Golfer design without a bar between the feet, no line between the lips and the registration number 729136.

BACKSTAMP: Variation of Miller Type IA ii with RGD 729136 markings. Defined backstamp with all characters visible and legible. Please note this design has 'RGD' instead of the usual 'REG' in the backstamp (as noted in the 'UNUSUAL VARIATIONS' section at the bottom of the Miller Makers Mark page in the Golly Guide)

CONDITION: Presented for sale in wonderful condition. Unusually for this design there are no stress marks in the legs. Close examination under magnification shows two tiny nibbles in the enamel at the top of the head, barely visible to the naked eye. The metal has a patina consistent with age. Complete with original straight pin.

See photos for full details. Multiple high quality images shows the badge from different angles.
