DESCRIPTION: An original Carltonware Bandstand fully glazed white but without the usual decorative transfers applied. The unpainted bandstand is a genuinely rare item. Following the Carltonware company’s financial problems, a quantity of stock was sold on to Potteries Wholesale Ltd of Fordingbridge. They included some undecorated white bandstands. Many went into a skip, but luckily for collectors someone recognised what they were and a small number were saved. The company offered them direct to collectors back in 1992, and this is the source of the plain bandstands.
