DESCRIPTION: A rare opportunity to add one of most desirable badges from the 1980's to your collection. The genuine HMS CRICHTON. Issued to commemorate the Robertsons Golly becoming the official mascot for this naval minesweeper in 1983. The connection remained until the ship was decommissioned in Rosyth in 1985. It is known that at least two batches of this badge were produced, the differences between them being the shade of blue used. One being subtly but distinctly darker than the other. Both are available in this auction, this is believed to be the first time both varieties have been available in a public auction.
This is the
darker shade of the two varieties. Listed as 109a in the Golly Checklist. Both can be seen side by side in the final image.
BACKSTAMP: No backstamp as issued, certified as genuine by the Golly Checklist team.
CONDITION: Presented in excellent condition. The acrylic to front is bright and clean, the metal is unblemished. On revese the pin and clasp is fully working. A very clean example.
